For more information, please see the AP Coordinator’s Manual, Part 2 (available in late fall). The AP Exam Instructions will be available in 2020.
The scripts for the AP French, German, Italian, and Spanish Language and Culture Exams and the AP Music Theory Exam in the AP Exam Instructions include instructions for recording on a computer with MP3 software, which is now available for download.
One available option for recording MP3 files is the software program Audacity®. More information will be posted in the spring of 2020, including the resource Recording Student Responses on a Computer Using Audacity MP3 Recording Software (updated for the 2020 AP Exam administration) and links to the latest versions of Audacity for Windows and MAC.
An important note: Audacity’s MP3 recording feature requires downloading of the LAME MP3 Encoder Library in order to export MP3 recordings. This must be done for successful recording. More information about the LAME MP3 Encoder Library will be available in the spring of 2020.
Audacity is a free software product for PC or Mac that can be used to record audio from a computer sound card to hard disk in MP3 file format. This is not an AP Program or ETS endorsement of this product. If you experience any problems during the installation or configuration of the Audacity software product only, technical assistance is available between 8 a.m. and 8 p.m. ET, Monday through Friday. Your school staff may email AP-MP3Recordertech@ets.org or call 609-406-5677 for assistance during these hours.
